So we are here in Bonaire, having a fabulous time as always. We're at Captain Don's Habitat, where we just love to stay. Not all the above links are working yet. Tough to edit javascript on a S L O W connection

We will be adding more pictures daily, as the trip progresses. If there's no link, there are no pix yet. Especially if that date hasn't happened yet :-)

Wanna see some Bonaire videos? Yeah, we shot some of those too. Here are a few:

Part of the fun of going to Bonaire is the actual GETTING there. This trip was no different, except that our general method of getting here has gone away. Air Jamaica used to have quite good service from BWI to Montego Bay, then Montego Bay to Bonaire. Unfortunately, all of that changed. Air Jamaica no longer flies here. So, your choices now become DCA that use to be called ALM (All Luggage Missing or Always Late, Mon) who flew DC9s that they didn't know how to properly load, causing the pax to have to all go to the back for take off. They also fly from Miami, that dreaded evil hub from hell. Sometimes, they land at Curacao because they feel like it and make passengers wait there overnight until they decide to go to Bonaire. We also watched one of their airplanes miss the runway at Bonaire, and go around without "cleaning up" the airplane. Quite dangerous and not at all a good procedure. The other choice is American to Puerto Rico, and then American Eagle to Bonaire. Read more about THAT choice at my weblog Psycho Sensei. **Update** Our friends flying on Eagle to Bonaire won the delay prize by having to sit in San Juan airport for almost 12 hours.

In December, another choice will be added - Continental Airlines. The only hassle with that one is arrival time in Bonaire is around 6 am. Hotel check in, rental cars, etc. will not be available when you get here. On the good side, if all goes well and hotels and other amenities adjust their opening times, you might get into the water that morning.

Once you actually GET here, life becomes relatively easy, with great diving, great food, wonderful friendly people, and pretty good hotel rooms. September is a VERY slow month, which means bonuses such as getting a dive boat to yourself (that happened to us 9/10 and we were most pleased), no wait at your favorite restaurant, and a wide selection of just about everything. So, let's get everyone certified, or "tuned up" and let's go again this time next year. Banzai!!! :-)
